Hello,
My name is Scott Richards. I am not a certified fitness trainer or doctor. I don’t even play one on TV. What I am is just an ordinary Christian guy in my late 30’s. And like most ordinary Christians who have a full-time job, family and other commitments I find it hard to exercise on a regular basis and devote time to Bible study.

I can’t tell you how much money I have spent on the latest fitness equipment, books and videos. I have an entire room devoted to such equipment. It’s almost so crowded with gear that I can’t even workout in it. The latest piece of fitness equipment I bought was $500, and guaranteed to eliminate back pain while building my core. I have only found it to be an awkward piece of machinery that is more difficult to slither into than actually use.

Needless to say, I have gotten fed-up with all the wasteful spending. Nothing, no matter how much you spend on it, will get you in shape if you don’t take the time to use it.

I figured there had to be a way to get fit without all the fancy equipment. A way to get in shape and lose weight while doing my other daily tasks. What I found is that there is a way. There are many exercises you can do anywhere at anytime that will get you in the best shape of your life. The best part is that you don’t need expensive fitness equipment or fancy diets just simple household items and your own body weight.

In addition to the aforementioned exercises I realized that without proper nutrition my gains would be minimal at best. This is no big secret. Getting in the habit of eating the right foods will stave disease and provide one with a healthier and more abundant life. But what kind of food is the best food? How can I eat good food when on the run, at the office, or at my favorite restaurant? These are all questions I found answers to and have provided in my FREE ebook: Fit and Faith - A Total Christian Health & Fitness Program.

So what about devotional time? I believe that spending time in the Word and with God is the most important exercise you can do for yourself.

9 "And you, my son Solomon, acknowledge the God of your father, and serve him with wholehearted devotion and with a willing mind, for the LORD searches every heart and understands every motive behind the thoughts. If you seek him, he will be found by you; but if you forsake him, he will reject you forever.” (1 Chronicles 28:8-10)

Everyone I have ever spoken with declares that at least 30 minutes a day is crucial to a solid relationship with God. I agree. If we don’t devote time to God then we grow apart and it becomes much easier to fall back into our old ways.

21 and since we have a great priest over the house of God, 22 let us draw near to God with a sincere heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled to cleanse us from a guilty conscience and having our bodies washed with pure water. 23 Let us hold unswervingly to the hope we profess, for he who promised is faithful. (Hebrews 10:21-23)

One way I decided to get closer to God is include devotional time into my exercise routine. It is obvious to me that the more time I consciously focus on God the more he will draw near to me. This closeness has always fueled a desire within me to want to spend more time with Him.

We have all heard of various Christian writings emphasizing 40 days. Many churches have programs and faith promise pledges that span this important time. It is clearly evident that 40 days has significant biblical importance. Listed below are some of the many references to 40 days in the bible.

The flood of Noah lasted for 40 days (Genesis 7:17)

Moses was on the mount for 40 days and 40 nights receiving the commandments of God (Exodus 24:10-18)

After escaping Egypt, the Israelites spent 40 years wandering in the desert. (Numbers 13-14)

Elijah fasted for 40 days and 40 nights during his journey to the mountain of God (1 Kings 19:8)

Jonah warned: "Yet 40 days, and Nineveh shall be overthrown" (Jonah 3:4).

Jesus fasted and was in the wilderness 40 days, while he was tempted by Satan (Mark 1:13)

Jesus spent 40 days on earth after the resurrection. (Acts 1:3)

Therefore, my suggestion is that anyone who tries Fit and Faith - A Total Christian Health & Fitness Program commit at least 40 days and see what happens. Make sure you download the 40 daily devotional cards; print and read them before, during and after your workouts.

So while our bodies are focused on a particular exercise why not turn our minds to Jesus? It is my hope that you will become closer to God while also getting in the best shape of your life!

14 May the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with you all. (2 Corinthians 13:14)
